Today we started a new project to makeover a cabinet that was handed down from my husband’s grand parents.
The story behind this cabinet
Kevin’s grandfather built this cabinet for his grandmother. She used it for storage in her daycare. They later used it to store china at their house. About a year before his grandfather passed away he gave us this cabinet full of china. Right now we use it for extra storage in our dining room, this thing can hold an unbelievable amount! We’ve wanted to update it for a while and I’ve just been thinking and thinking about it, I haven’t wanted to do just anything…. I’d really love to be able to hold onto this cabinet for a very long time.
The design
I’ve drawn up how I would like the cabinet to turn out. I think this design will be usable for our current needs and hopefully versatile enough to be used in various ways in the future. We’ll be building new doors and adding a little extra molding. We’ll also add new knobs and soft close hinges.
I can’t wait to see the finished product!
